I have to admit that these may be quite simple hints, which I use regularly to open doors during consultations. Nevertheless, it is surprising why so few people go through these open doors.

Learn a new Corel function, command key or working technique every day.

In this way, effectiveness can be permanently increased and software potential exploited.

Always have a look at the dynamic software interface.

For the selected object are displayed:

  • all object properties and object styles in the Properties docker.
  • in the Objects docker, the position in the object stack.
  • in the status bar, outline and fill properties, object name on layer, short help on the selected tool and more.
  • in the toolbar Transform the geometric properties.

Use external and internal symbols.

With external and internal symbols, illustrations get a referenced structure for repeating elements. Frequently occurring changes need only be made once to the symbol.

For enlargements, details and sections work with the PowerClip and symbols function instead of using a lens or cropping.

With PowerClip and Symbols, the illustration remains dynamic and no new objects are created for enlargements, details and sections.

Keep functional groups such as Contour, Extrusion and Dimension as long as possible.

Objects are automatically linked to each other in functional groups when they are created. If the control object changes, the linked objects follow.

Preserve intermediate steps when creating the illustration.

Move objects of the intermediate steps on a separate layer by a systematic distance from the illustration. In this way, complex objects can be quickly modified or similarly recreated.

Work with object styles.

With object styles, the consistency of the illustration is increased and the illustration can be quickly adapted to new requirements across pages, layers, groups and symbols.

Work with structured groups.

Mit strukturierten Gruppen erhält die Illustration eine Struktur, die der realen entsprechen kann. Objekte in Gruppen sind sehr gut handhabbar. Aus Gruppen können ohne Umwege Symbole angelegt werden.

With structured groups the illustration gets a structure that can correspond to the real one. Objects in groups are very easy to handle. Symbols can be created from groups without detours.

Avoid Corel functions that result in bitmaps.

Bitmap effects significantly increase the file size of the illustration. Functions with bitmaps as a result are transparency, shadow, gradient and bevel.

Work with presets.

Presets are used to increase the consistency of the illustration and systematically apply settings of interactive tools such as contour and extrusion.
